Start with what can move

Write down the non-negotiables: player count, earliest start, latest finish and travel radius. Then loosen one thing at a time. A pair can use an opening that will not fit four; nine holes can fit a day that has no room for 18. Neither option guarantees an opening.

Use the direct sheet for the course you want

Check the operator’s own reservation link. An empty marketplace result describes that marketplace’s inventory, not every possible booking channel. Phone only where the course accepts phone reservations: Braintree requires online booking, while Pinehills takes same-day bookings by phone.

Singles have their own rules

Boston’s George Wright and Devine allow an online single to join an existing twosome or threesome. Fresh Pond publishes the same joining rule. That gives you a concrete search pattern; it does not mean the shop has a hidden single waiting.

A late discount still needs enough light

Granite Links lists $90 twilight after 5pm with cart and range included. Butternut Farm lists $50 walking on weekends after 3pm. Price those against the holes you realistically expect to play, and check the cart-return time. A twilight reservation does not promise 18.

Book once the group is ready
